Entries will be judged on Interpretation, Creativity and Technique.
Interpretation - How closely the piece relates to the theme, based on the work itself and the artist statement.
Creativity - How creative and original the piece is in its conception of the theme and its presentations.
Technique - The level of skill demonstrated in the basic principles/techniques of the arts area.
Please note that the Artist Statement is worth 40 out of 100 points, so it is very important. This should be typed in to the Entry Form. Consider these questions when writing it:
How does your work relate to the theme?
What is your personal connection to the theme?
What did you use to create your work (e.g., supplies, technology, instrumentation, props, etc.)?
What/who was your inspiration?
Who moves to the next round of the competition?
The Primary Divison (Grades K-2) will have 2 artists from each category submitted to the county competition. The Intermediate Division (Grades 3-5) will have 2 artists from each category submitted to the county competition. (This change was implemented by the county this year.)
